Touring - Schwalbe Big Apples

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was asking my LBS about the XRs and they recommended the Big Apples instead. I know they are supposed to be very comfortable but how do they compare to the Marathons for touring? (malaysia, thailand, laos, vietnam, china, USA)

The certainly wouldn't last as long as the Marathon XR, no way, but they are comfortable for shorter on-road tours as they are mostly slick. I used them through the U.K.
I can't compare them to the XRs, but I ride mine on all kinds of stuff and they're incredibly comfortable.
I've had them on giant sharp gravel in KS, on forest trails up north Minnesota, and on roads and bike paths in Minneapolis. I can stay on that bike forever, and I'm sure a good bit of the reason is the tires.
Haven't had a flat, yet, either.
I tend to overinflate them for road use. I know I shouldn't, but they do feel slow.

They're really nice for riding on the street or dirt paths, but I got a lot of cuts in mine when riding on sharper rocks. No flats, though.
