Yup! Haven't ridden the tandem much since Gina got her CF Trek. Only a few hundred miles this year(?). I rode the MTB alot a couple of years ago and on a forum ride in Carbon Canyon. But mostly road now that Gina rides more. She rides her celeste Bianchi when there is a threat of rain. Her hybrid when we cruise around the park. But the dark green Bianchi doesn't see much action unless I use it on the trainer or take it out for a short spin. Sometimes a guest rider will ride it.

I've sold a Trek roadie (now I wish I hadn't). Some dude offered me some good dough for one of our tandems (KHS) or we'd have two! Another hybrid (Miyata)sold to a friend that wouldn't stop begging or I'd also have it . I think I would be riding them all if I still had them.:D

Oye.... lets see here 12 if you count the wifes 2.... 10 if just mine (not in pictures is the wifes K2 and an old 1950,s cruiser) Most of the old bikes were going to be tossed so I picked them up! For those who remember my old blue 1970's Schwinn it's now my friends.. I gave it to him.. you should see how happy he is when he rides it!

I have 2 (geared cyclocross and a SS roadbike). I could definitely see myself purchasing a full carbon race bike, a mountain bike, and a cruiser in the next couple of years.

Nice bikes Beanz

Yes, I could.
But I'm not going to. It's a '77 Carlsbad, CA MASI which I bought in '82. It was my main road bike all through the 80's and early 90's and is now my fixed gear bike (mostly for MUP and recovery rides). Here's what it looks like today.

Looks good Rick.

Thanks Buck,

Yeah, I like it. Of course if you look close, there are scrapes and chips in the paint and it's far from a perfect example of the breed. Still, the ride is very good, esp. on rough MUP pavement. May get a matching wheel for the front, but otherwise it's likely to stay like it is for a long while.

The gearing is 42t x 15t.

Well I guess I'm joining you lot...

Bought a Univega MTB yesterday. Needed one for rides with the little man, he so wants to hit the dirt. So in all I have 3 now along with the wife's cruiser and the son's bmx thing. The wife groaned when she saw it, something about rearranging furniture or some such

Now I need a geared road bike to round things out, anyone have a nifty steel 55 or 56cm road bike they desperately don't need for reasonable?

Four so far. 1982 Univega SuperStrada road bike, 1976 Raleigh R20 folder, 1972 Raleigh Sports (light roadster) and a 1958 Raleigh Trent Sports (clubman style bike). Still searching for a Raleigh DL-1 Tourist (full-sized roadster); if you know of one, drop me a line. Would consider trading the Univega for a Raleigh road bike of similar vintage. PG.

Hi,

How many bikes do I need or how many bikes does the average cyclist need?

Me, I'm pretty much an N+1 guy. The average cyclist, who knows?

My list:

In working order:
1975 Bianchi Specialissima road bike
2005 Bianchi Milano commuter bike / "cafe racer"
2005 Look KG481SL road (training) bike
2006 Bianchi Pista Concept track bike
2007 Serotta Attack road (race) bike
2007 Bianchi D2 Crono TT bike

In non-working order:
1983(?) Benotto track bike
1985(?) Shogun Kaze TT "Funny" bike
1990(?) Stowe Triad road bike
2000 Quattro Assi road bike

There are two more Bianchi Milanos in the garage (wife and eldest son) and a pseudo BMX bike and a Schwinn mountain bike with 24 inch wheels that my youngest son rides.

So that makes 13 bikes in the garage. I actually sold one earlier this year so I guess I need to buy another for good luck. :D

You know, when it comes to woodworking tools, you can't have too many, but with bikes...I only need one. I have two, a MTB so I can ride with my little girl and my road bike. Maybe I'm lucky, when I bought my bike, it was more than I needed or could afford, it fits me like a glove and I still love it after 4 years.

Woodworking tools are expensive enough without having to buy a new bike every year. So you see, I do understand the addiction.

Tell her what's wrong with making the bikes the center piece of the room? I mean, you likely paid more for all the bikes than perhaps the couch anyway right?

Popeyecahn
11-02-08, 08:32 AM
Yeah, good point and I did pay more for them than the couch cost.

I think more furniture moving is in store to make room for what she has in mind which is to accommodate the bikes. None of this would be a problem if the place had a garage...
