If someone else has this issue I would like to know. I have been riding in earnest since May/June. I have logged around 1500 miles in that time frame. By my calculations, a male of my age (45) height (6'1") and weight (210) should have burned off around 70,000 extra calories which would result in a weight loss of around 20lbs. Nothing else in my lifestyle has changed all that much, and yet I remain at 210. I was hoping that this activity would get me down to under 200 but I am stuck. Don't get me wrong, I feel great and I'm sure that my heart thanks me, and I don't plan on not riding but I was just hoping for a better weight loss result. Any suggestions/comments?
You're eating too much. Likely, without realizing it, you started eating just a little more at each meal and made up the difference.
You really have to pay attention to portion size and make sure you eat the right amount.

I was stuck at 255lbs for a while - cycling approx 100 miles per week. I was getting in from work - eating dinner, then going out for 20 miles or so. Now I go out for a spin straight after work and eat dinner after. I found that the weight has started to come off again, I'm now 242lbs and dropping at a steady 2lb a week or so.

The 70,000 calories may be somewhat high, but let's suppose it's true. You've been doing it for about 6 months, so the 20 pounds you think you should have lost would be about ¾ pound per week. That's equivalent to 375 calories a day of food. Try eating a little less, and see what happens.
Oh, how are you figuring calories burned? Most programs way overestimate it. My Garmin numbers are so high I basically cut them in half to get a more accurate count.

I had some issues with this myself. One of the things you have to remember is that while you might be actually losing fat you are gaining muscle. A bit of a paradox but at least it's a good one.
I just got back on my bike after having broken my collar bone and a couple of ribs in a fall during a group ride. I actually lost weight during my recovery. Go figure.
