Northern California - Night Ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Again, I apologize if anyone got home too late.
Thanks for coming everyone, I had fun.
I can't wait to see some "Psycho" pictures ;) (For those not there you shall soon see what I mean).
Wow, just getting home at midnight? If I ever make it to one of these things, I'll be dying at work the next day. :P

That'll be me ... I gotta be in the office @ 6 am.
Marco, no worries. It was fun. Sometimes, you gotta sacrifice fun for late night and lack of sleep. It was worth it.
Oh, and btw, 33.17 miles, 4400 feet climbing.

Yeah when we were on Wedgewood/Southdown. I told Ron he could blame Paula for that part ;)
Paula, you still have to do Crestview. Since you are always around Edgewood anyway. There is a "dead end" in the middle of the descent. However bikes can pass through (around) it. You'll end up on Halmark whoch will spit you back on to Ralston.

Marco, thanks for hosting the ride and making it a real killer!
The course was awesome, just a little longer than I was expecting for a weeknight.
Sorry I was so cranky once we got past my bedtime.
On the plus side, by doing a hard ride instead of eating dinner I was 2 pounds lighter this morning.:D

Just my thoughts on the evening...Thanks you guys I had a great time as usual. I really enjoy riding with you!:
Full Moon Boogie
Full MoOn BoOgie map (http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/7140839)
I played it a little smarter this time...I knew Marco would go out of the gate like "Sea Biscuit" getting a buckshot pellet in the ass!
This was the first time that Chris and Marco had ridden solo bikes together. The greeting was friendly/gentlemanly, but you could see behind their eyes the primitive calculating, sizing up and guarded body language of to "two Gladiators about to face off in a pit of blood!" Ramon stood off quietly as usual with a smile that didn't reach his eyes "I will wait for their battle to be over than I will ride across their bones!" I had a shiver on the top of my head that gave me a feeling of wearing a skull cap.
Meanwhile the Wiley hornet (Henry) was buzzing around the outskirts waiting for his moment to sting. Sir Ron the Senator knew he had bitten off more than he can chew, but noblemen are like that...At times they must lower themselves down with the commoners and fighting folk to feel alive...
For me it was just another weekday "ball busting adventure" with the "Fight Bike Club", although this week the broken general was not so feeble and had been fed well by his maidens.
I feed off the spirit blood draining from the young fighter/gladiators as they scale these walls that we encounter, one after another! I bath in the starlight and sweat of my own doing. I own the pain, like a vampire awakening, the full moon beckons me and I scream like a demon with joy in my heart at the darkness I descend into...I F***ing Love my Bike!
..."What I had to go through today to be here tonight". I thought to myself...
Earlier in the day I acquired a loaner car from a friend of mine that a practice barter with...I like barter! You don't have to pay taxes!
After super-gluing my camera together for the umpteenth time, I had decided it was time!...
Off to "Best Buy". My purchase went pretty quick and (yes I did get the insurance on the camera). When we got back to the store I approached the car and the engine was running...DOH! The doors were locked and the keys were in the ignition!
Let me digress here...There is a thing we call wife (micro-manager) who is very outspoken and chatty when it comes to finding a parking place. Some people can get very cranky and loose concentration when this appendage is attached to oneself...Catch my drift?...
I ran to a body shop on tenth and Harrison hoping I could get someone on the cheap to open the care for me...long short, called towing, but they never showed! We flagged down an AAA truck so I hired him for the job. He called his office to see if we still had the AAA service from out old car...YES! I gave the guy 20 bucks and we were outta there...Phew!
Back to the Battlefield...
We left Marco's place...hmmm? Warm up? No! Max HR right from the start. At least I had the common sense this time to hold back a bit. I warned Henry and Ron this was about to happen.
Well we just commenced to kill the hills of San Mateo for the next 3 hours. Ron was a little off the back and a bit bonky, but managed to muscle through it. Marco, Chris and Ramon hit it off pretty well, better than I had imagined. I'm hoping we all are able to ride again on Saturday- My ride.
Henry was ... Well Henry is Henry, always the great guy to be around, kind of neutral, like who couldn't get along with him? Funny I would say neutral! He just got back from Switzerland! Ron the Statesman the same...always laugh my nuts off with him.
...and me, these rides are making me feel better and better. For some reason I always find some inner-peace out here...the peaceful night air under the stars with great friends quells the rabid demons that follow me closely and wait for the opportune moment to pounce, but no pouncing tonight for my "Gladiators" keep me safe!

Believe it or not that "Psycho Patrol" car was not a photoshop!
We found it at the top of Crestview, and thought it was quite fitting ;)
Another fun and lactic acid inducing ride. I drank a big glass of chocolate milk and watched tv till 1:30am before hitting the hay.

How do you guys sleep at all after riding so late? I find that on the days when I ride more than like, 20, 25 miles I don't sleep well at night. And that's after riding earlier in the day.
I fall asleep eventually. That's where the grande no whip caramel frap with a blended add shot comes in handy in the am.

I need to get a jersey with Heretic imprinted on it.

Expect it on the ride after next (I hope).
My flashlight setup finally shipped from Hong Kong.Heh, I didn't notice until after I ordered that DX is in Hong Kong, and that there are a lot of posts regarding how erratic/slow they are to ship. Oh well.

Man, if DealExtreme has a physical store in Hong Kong, it would be nerd paradise.

Did find a good place for cheap electronics here in Singapore, picked up a $35 MP3 player for a friend.
They had a good selection of LED flashlights and a couple of headlamps, but no bike lights.

This thingy right here makes a flashlight into a bike light. :)
