Can anyone tell me if there are any road bike clubs or group rides in Prescott, Az? In general, how would you rate the road biking opportunities in that area? Any specific rides and or bike shops you'd recommend? Thanks! Rebscott

I figured you'd get better responses, but I guess this is all you get.
There is a good shop - High Gear. Steve is a rider and not just a businessman.
Look up the Prescott Chain Gang. I've never ridden with them but they come recommended.
The big ride is Skull Valley. Fairly high altitude, lots of climbing, you'll find it on a map. I'm fond of the ride to Seligman & Ash Fork, but some think it's a deadly traffic ride.
If you ride MTB, you might find Prescott to be heaven!

Thank you for the Prescott road riding info. I really appreciate it. From all I've read about Prescott, I kind of thought I'd get a few more responses too but you answered the main focus of what I was trying to get to. I am indeed a mtn biker also but there's a ton of mtn biking in my area (Gunnison, Colorado) and much less road riding. So I'd ideally like to find a place to do a little more road riding just during the short weeks or months I'm wherever that is. I'm not a big fan of Tucson but I know that's a big road riding area. Some Albuquerque riders came up to my area twice this summer and waxed enthusiastically about winter riding in Alb. However, some research suggested that the area is massive and traffic can be pretty bad. Being from the Gunnison area, I'm ebarrassed to admit that I'm not used to too much traffic.
I've also heard about a small town called Eagar, Arizona. Do you have any comments on that area for a winter retreat. I think my wife would vastly prefer the cultural offerings of Prescott.
Thanks again.

I rode in Tucson and Albquerque last year April and I prefer US by far. Maybe I should even more in winter. The traffic in town (ABQ is rather rude), the loops in the parks, heading to Bisbee etc., those are the scenic and also seasonal advantages.
Don't know Prescott, only rode a bit in the Sedona/Cottonwood area (red rock area) and that's marvellous too.
Hope you'll get soem information from the local and Arizona expert(s) Zonatandem.
