I wore a hole through my first pair of fleece lined bibs in less than 2 1/2 hours of riding. They do not have padding in them so I wore them over my padded shorts. The hole is in the seat area. How are you supposed to wear them? Inside or over your shorts?

are the bibs new from a lbs or a cyclign store? if so call them up and tell them what happened. if nothing else you can sew them up yourself. its not hard and doesn't take lot of time, google if you don;'t know how.

i wear tights on the outside, if they have seams. ever wear bike shorts with underwear? if so you feel every painful seam in the underwear within the first few miles.

Easiest solution , just wear fleece lined cycling bibs, when it is really cold. No need for an extra pair of tights . I have an Assos pair of bibs that are toasty warm.. Where i feel the cold is the torso area... Since in the worst of winter it is 35 when we take off and 55 when we return , its the upper body that feels the early AM cold. I think the key to staying warm in the upper torso, your choice of base lining adn a wind vest.

The chamois always goes next to your bum. As to wearing a hole, check your seat bag strap. Those are notorious for doing just that.

OK so the shorts with the bilt in padding go over the fleece bibs.

Thanks

Um, no. The chamois-the part the pad is called-should never have anything between it and your skin. Following this line of reasoning, the un-padded bibs or tights (without chamois in cycling parlance) will go OVER the bibs with the chamois.

In this illustration, the blue thing will always be in contact with your skin.
You wear tights, warmers, long underwear, Underoos, or anything else OVER the shorts at that point.

So I was wearing them correctly. Shorts with built in chamois against my bare hairy parts with the long legged fleece lined bibs over top of the shorts. I'll take them back to my LBS for analysis.
