Hi there!
I've owned a Giant OCR3 road bike for the last three years and this is the season I'm going to upgrade. I'm looking to spend $1200-2000 on a bike that hopefully has ultegra and/or 105 components, race wheelsets that are both light and more importantly durable. I'm not sure whether or not I want carbon or aluminum. Right now I'm most interested in the Trek 2200 and the Giant Composite 2. Any information (good/bad) on these bikes? Also, my local dealers only carry specialized, giant, and trek so I really don't know what else is out there. Any suggestions for bikes in the above mentioned prices would be much appreciated! Thanks much.
Ted
Can't go wrong with any reputable bike in that wide of price range. That is, unless it doesn't fit or is uncomfortable. Then you can horribly wrong. I suggest test riding as many as possible and then buying a 6 month old Trek 5200 in mint condition. Or a Bianchi.

What sort of riding do you do? flats? TT? hill climbs? Road racing? Crits?
Cervelo make a carbon fibre bike...dunno the price in USD though. They also have steel that is lighter than alot of ALU bikes, and the slickest aero ALU frames around.

how about a cannondale R1000?
any opinions on this bike? ...i'm certainly drawn to the mavic kryserium elites.
In reply to the previous post, I am an avid recreational rider who does all sorts of terrain (flats, hills, mountains). I'm not a racer which is why durability is a priority over performance/weight. Thanks!

well in that case why not find a price for a Cervelo Super Prodigy? Super sweet steel frame that is lighter than some ALU bikes as I have said. Ultegra...etc etc. Could ask LBS to price up with those sweet Ksyriums?
And here is a pic of the Cannondale mentioned above:

A mix of Ultegra/105 Sram components with Ksyriums. Nice.
