Some people have asked me to show them my upgrades since the last time I posted the bike The biggest ones are fork, seat, evil bashgaurd (should be a chainguide and a new handlebar but I have to 'fix' it on there.

This also gave me a chance to test some settings on my new camera :D

Props to SLC_PUNK for getting everything out here to me. Thanks bud :)

it mgiht just be an optical illusion, but why does your head angle look so steep?

Maelstrom
03-20-04, 12:48 PM
Because I am tall :D...its 69degree...I also have it set on the steepest setting because I also use this for a trail bike and didn't like it raked out THAT much :D

damn you must be super tall! that seat is high! Do you do your north shore stuff with that setting?

Haha..thats still too short for any real trail riding. I ride with it a touch higher when on the trails. When I am doing north shore or dh it is an inch off the bottom

and yes..I am 6'5 with a lot of leg..

Maelstrom

Even at its highest position I still can't get my leg straight...:D

F***. I wish i had money.

I but used or previous years. Excluding the chainguide I don't have anything 'new' on that bike. Not worth the cash usually to buy right out of the factory

Now you need the "Big Link" ;) . Your Big Hit is starting to come together.

Never to ride a trail again. Its a tosser for me. I want to be able to rip up the trails AND the mountain. If I get the biglink I might screw myself. Maybe I need a 4th bike ;)

You'll find that with the "new" kit, ie... RC w/Pro-Pedal that it pedals better than your stock setup. Not to mention I know you have more of a DH tendancy than trail riding. I'm telling you brother that bottomless feeling of 8.1" of travel is nice.... :D

BTW... Hopefully I'll have my new Dorado MRD X-Works by Tuesday :D :D :D :D

Maelstrom

If anything I have more or a shore tendancy...but yes I will be ordering one mid season probably. I want to dh purely but haven't hit the mountain (I just got the bike)...all of my rides up to this point were shore style riding and some long dh (but the kind that end a trail ride ;))...

Jesus..your richer than I...that fork is worth more than my bike haha

Maelstrom

Phatman. This post is for you. I raised up my fork and changed the HA setting on my bike. Does this look better :) I guess this is my dh mode. ;)

Man I think I am gonna love having a camera :D

That reminds me...I just bought a new silver Race Face Diabolus stem. Now what do I do with it? LMFAO!! I have not even ridden with it yet; as I've had a cast on.

Any one want to buy it?

hey, I was just wondering how you change the HA? Do you change the amount of travel on the rear to get it steeper?

Maelstrom
03-21-04, 05:20 PM
Two things.

1 - I usually ride my fork so about an inch of the stanchion is sticking out. This in effect changes the ride height of the fork hence changing my headangle. For the slacker headangle. I moved the stanchions to correct position which changed the HA about a degree or so.

2 - Bighits have settings to choose. You have 5 inch 69 degree or 5 inch 67 degree OR 6.5 inch 69 degree and 6.5 inch 67 degree. Took me 5 minutes to change the geometry of my bike. Very easy.

If you look at pics 1 and 2 you can see the top of the jrT has a bit of stanchion sticking out :)

Hey no worries mate! I wish we could have made that Chainguide work when I was there. And what's that? The bike is still in the same place as when I left  Did you guys get that much snow after we headed out? I say get out and ride it around in the whitestuff anyways! Or take a bus down to squamish, I saw quite a few guys riding on my way threw when we left.

Haha.. well anyways brah... can't wait to be living closer to you in about 2 months!

Bike has moved. I just put it back :D...snow is almost gone off of my deck. That is a good sign. At least now I will have pics of the trails this year...not that it matters since you will be here.

OMG!! I'm going to have to run a 220mm rotor up front with my Mono m-4's. I called Hope today and it should arrive about the same time as my fork.

Maelstrom
03-22-04, 06:03 PM
Why do you HAVE to ;)

BlackDiamond
03-22-04, 07:00 PM
It is an adaptor thing. The new Dorado X-Works is different. In order to run my #3 caliper with my adaptor I have to get a 220mm front rotor.

Maelstrom
03-22-04, 07:56 PM
I was kind of kidding :)...

You gonna race?

BlackDiamond
03-23-04, 03:35 PM
I was in a cast during the Fontana CA winter races Feb-March so I missed those. I'll hopefully be able to run the Series that starts in late April. I'll be doing races at Big Bear as well. ;)

Nice. I wouldn't mind trying my hand at racing once I get better. Only provincially though, I have no dreams of national racing...

BlackDiamond

Na, I'm 32 and about as smooth as 80 grit sand paper, so I never have any delusions of granger; how do you think I ended up in a cast. You don’t have to be good to race. Go for the fun and the camaraderie. There will be no one at a race that does not share at least one common interest with you.

Not to mention you’ll learn a lot ;)

BlackDiamond, this is a little off topic, but how much for the stem? Mine sucks (heavy as hell) and I dont want to risk falling over my handle bars when the stem breaks, or shocing my face into my tire at full speed.

BlackDiamond

Hmmm Hooligan, how about $50?

Hey BD,

Is it the 50 or the 70? Silver right?

If hooligan doesn't want it, I'd be interested.
