Northern California - Saturday morning Coast Loop (checking out Bike Hut, too)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hiya,

I have a small window for riding this weekend, and thought it'd be nice to check out the Bike Hut near Tunitas Creek (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=479830). So, if anyone is interested, I'm thinking of the Coast Loop (http://www.paloaltobicycles.com/coast_loop.html), starting from Page Mill and Foothill, leaving around 8 AM?

Now, since we'll be descending Kings, if we have time, it certainly behooves us to stop by Woodside Bakery to grab a hot chocolate!

a group of us will be doing almost the same ride on Saturday morning following the Low Key Hill Climb on Bear Gulch.

Oh...I thought you guys are going to meet up somewhere on Skyline? If you guys have approx. time estimations and locations, perhaps I can hustle and catch up? I don't think I'm up for the LKHC's just yet. I'll be embarrassing myself, most likely.

I'll be embarrassing myself too, so it's all good! I just want to see what it's all about, get some riding in, and start working on some speed. Never done any kind of bike racing before. I'll never be fast on hills, it's not about winning.

We'll be on the tandem... and the beginning is like 12 or 13% I think.

So I won't break any speed records either. ;)

We'll probably park someplace along Skyline, and meet back there right after the race to grab supplies from the cars.

Then we were going to descend W84, up and over Haskins to Pescadero, Stage, short bit of HWY 1, up Tunitas, back to cars.

I was thinking the same thing. Just got 3 more jugs of accelerade from chainlove... take one bottle for the climb and have more in the car :) I have only used 1 of the 2 jugs i bought this summer, but I like it, and for $15 instead of $40, how can you not stock up? :)

Yeah, for us... One bottle on the climb, no food, no saddle bag (in our case rack trunk), nada.

We'll come back to the car for all our gear :)

Hmmm.....this LKHC may not be a bad idea. No commitments (especially since no-one is coming on this Coast Loop), but if I see you guys up there, I'm doing it! I do need to be home by 11:30, so no follow-on ride down to Tunitas for me.

Dang, you guys are making it tough for me to decide ... I was going to do BigBossMan's East Bay ride, but checking out the Bike Hut is enticing ... I guess it'll be a flip of the coin again.

Why can't you do both?!

BBM's ride is on Sunday, isn't it?

Grrrr I got invited to go see the Niners and Seahawks on Sunday so now I have to meet at 9:15 Sunday AM to drive up for the tailgate party and such.

Why can't I have just ONE day a week to sleep in??

Marco, you guys are upping the ante removing the trunk. Maybe I'll ditch my saddle bag too :)

Keeping the rack bolted on though. That'd be a PITA to remove. Plus it's pretty light and adds stiffness to the rear triangle. Just like cars have member braces ;)

Haha, I just got finished putting the rack on my car (takes all of about 2 minutes). I misread your comment and thought you were telling *me* to keep the rack bolted on, and I thought you were referring to my car somehow.

I have often considered autocrossing with the roof rack on, just for style points. I think last month 2 cars on course had bike racks :)
