Nice bike!! The Sequoia's always been a sweet bike but your '09 is the nicest I've seen. Are those carbon seatstays?

Excellent! Looks like they've made some changes, like the Tiagra cranks and is that black wheels? What size frame is that? Oh, I see from your sig. it is the Elite model... is she black or maroon? The crank pic looks maroon. Do report in after some rides!
well i just realized i didnt get the bike i thought i did. im color blind so the colors didnt throw me off at first. the lady working the front of the lbs said she didnt have any 08 models left only 09s so i didnt think any more of it till i got home and was wiping it down after my first ride. i have an 08 model they changed from the alex 28/24 spoke rims that this bike has to mavic 32/28 spoke rims the 09s have. plus the 09s have full 105 components this one is mixed 105 / tiagra.
what would you do this bike rides great but its the 08 with cheaper components and wheels for the price of a 09? i may try to go back to the lbs tomorrow.

Hmmm... how do you know it's an 08 vs. an 09? Other than the Tiagra cranks, what components aren't what they're supposed to be? As I recall the colors changed for 09 but the Specialized web site is down and I can't look up details.

Bikepedia rocks! I went to a Specialized shop about three months ago and was talking with the owner about the '09 lineup. He was oblivious to it. Specialized hadn't even sent the dealers a list or any info on the 09's yet. I gave him the bikepedia website address and boy was he pissed. All the '09s were already posted there. After that, I spoke to a couple more bike shops that carried Specialized- they all said the same thing. Kudos to Bikepedia for getting it first.
ok i went to the lbs this morning and after looking at the pros and cons of the 08 vs 09 bike i have decided to keep the 08 bike and in return this spring he is going to build me a 36 spoke wheel to replace the 28 spoke rear wheel. also he told me the 9 spd chain will hold up better than the 10 spd chain also that the Shimano Tiagra crankset will be a sturdier ride than the Sugino Comp crank set. i guess time will tell.

Nice looking ride!! Very relaxed geometry should make those longer rides a lot more comfortable. Almost bought one of those back in "05" when I was looking for a road bike.

Nice ride! However, I'd be asking for a price break, or having the wheel done asap. Kind of lame that they didn't know it was a 08 and charged you more for it.
And from what I hear he is correct about 9sp chains.

BikePedia does indeed rock! FWIW it looks like you did get at least get the carbon seatstays, which appear to be no longer part of the deal with an 09. I kind of dig the maroon too, which would not come in 09 models.
your right i hadnt noticed they dropped the seat stays in 09
Nice bike! Enjoy the ride!

Congratulations on your new ride.
I picked up mine this Friday but because of work have not been able to ride it much.
Really nice bike. Love the "feel" and of the relaxed geometry.
well i went to Shelby Bottoms today with my family and my boss and his family. they had never rode the greenway at Shelby Bottoms and i had never rode it on a road bike. the bike done great smooth riding and a lot easier to pedal than the mountain bike i had. we only rode about 8 miles today but im looking forward to putting a little distance on the bike soon. here are a few pics and a link to the album if your interested.

Oh yeah, the maroon is nice! You are on your way now, but I must recommend a helmet. (You will eventually have some sort of crash.) Where is that bike bridge... it's a nice one.
As you start to ride longer, take breaks every 8-12 miles and don't flog yourself. Enjoy!

the helmets are coming..... the bridge is the pedestrian bridge over the cumberland river beside opryland in shelby bottoms downtown nashville, tn.
