I am trying to find a bike friendly route in New Jersey along the Interstate 80 corridor into PA. I have found a suitable bridge over the Delaware at Columbia, however all the roads I have checked out are either too narrow with no shoulders or too heavily trafficked. Can anyone suggest some suitable roads in that area?

Wish I could help you, I do all my touring way north and west of Rt 80. I just checked my Adv-Cycling route for the Atlantic Coast (Section 2) and their cross NJ route goes from Penn Station in Newark South of Rt 78 (which is much further south of Route 80) to Norristown, at which is goes into PA, a little north of Philadelphia.

I did a MS tour awhile ago, called Bridge the Gap and it was Morristown to Lehigh U and that started close to Route 80 (about 8 miles south), however, I don't think I have the cue sheet of that anymore.

Hopefully, somebody else is more familiar with going west. I always tend to ride north towards Sussex County or into NY state...

I live in Sussex county you can try taking route 15 north to 206. Park your car by the chatterbox cafe.
Then you can take 206 north for about 20 miles that will put you in to MIlford, PA. They have a walking path for your bike across the delaware.

Thats just one there are quite a few more sorry nothing that I know of along Rt 80.

You can also take old mine road north, park at the end of 80 in the recreation area. This is about 20 miles north to Milford Pa. Very few cars on this one.
There is a cue sheet for this some where in Bike Routes of NJ on the internet.
