Long Distance Competition/Ultracycling, Randonneuring and Endurance Cycling - Sent in my application for Pac Tour!

Since I'm graduating college in the spring, it seemed like a perfect time to do a cross country ride with my dad. We'll be riding from Portland to Georgia averaging 116 miles per day. It will be a fully supported ride so we don't have to carry any gear while riding.

Any tips from people that have done something like this before?

Oh you are going to love it! I did a one-week desert camp with them last year, it was a total blast. Lon is an animal. They are a really well-organized tour company, the support is excellent, they do a great job with the maps, the food, the planning, all of it.

Bring more gears than you think you'll need... Folks forget about the fatigue caused by multi-day long distance riding. And EAT a LOT!!!

I plan on having 39/27 as my lowest gear. It seems like it should be enough, we'll be going over the vail to leadville pass, I did that this summer with a lowest of 39/27.

This section sounds like it might be rough climbing with those gears though once it gets past 10%

Our first miles in Arkansas are climbing the Talimena Parkway. This is one of the toughest 50 miles in the United States with continuous 10% and 15% up and down the Ozark Mountains.

That sounds like so much fun. I hear nothing but good things about PAC tours so you're in for a treat. If only I could convince my mother to do Route 66 with me!

I'm already getting back into training mode because I can't wait to do it. From the blogs I've read, it does sound like a ton of fun, but it sure is a ton of riding
