I rode up to Pilot Mountain today and because of a map error I ended up missing my turn. (Apparently Old Hollow Rd is now Old Winston Rd) Anyway, I passed a house that had at least 12 dogs in the front yard, and all of them wanted bianchi for lunch. I managed to pass without incident by using the talk/yell method but of course since I was on the wrong road I had to turn around and go back by, this time heading up hill.

Again without incident but I don't see how these dogs live, I saw them chase both cars that drove by. Since I was WAY out in sticks and alone I really didn't think it would be a good idea to meet Bubba and the Mrs/sister so I just headed on my way.

Somehow the mountain grew over the winter....

Isn't it amazing how people that let their dogs run wild always take the side with their dogs. I love animals but Who needs 12 dogs? For what their spending on dogfood alone they could probably buy Invisible Fencing to keep 1 or 2 in THEIR yard.
I remember one hot summer day I just climbed a big hill and I'm pedaling slowly, trying to recover and out from the bushes comes a Pitbull. I jump off my bike and try to keep the bike between him and me. He's trying everything to get around my bike even sticking his head between the downtube and seatube snapping at me. I grab my tirepump and I hear a female voice yell "Don't you hit my dog!" I yell "Lady I'm only trying to keep your @#*% dog from biting me!"
Next thing I know her husband comes running up ready to kick my tail. And these were upper middleclass folk.

Pilot Mountain is cool. I've never ridden it but drove by it many times for CX races in Greensboro and that area. It looks like a mesa or something you'd see in New Mexico. Does the road go up and down that saddle?

As I wrote once before, here in Rural area, I pass a house with many dogs with a sign in yard that states:
"F### the dogs, worry about ME!"
