Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

...or is it a Speciaties TA adapteur...in any case it adapts some kind of huge BCD ring (or double in this case) to a standard 5-bolt spider as found on TA Cyclotouriste or Stronglight 49D crankarms.
What rings work with this?
the C-C measurement is about 76mm.
Are the rings still available?
There was another set of rings for this adapter, different from the CycloTourist that fit these. I think the idea was to make the connection more solid and rigid...
I believe I have a couple of the adapters with one ring attached each, haven't run across any others.

I'd like to see a pic of the ring if you can post one...is the ring a TA product or Stronglight (or something else)?

I have an adapteur ring on my carlton..
the real benefit and (to the best of my knowledge) original reason for existing was to allow for changing chainrings before races without needing to pull off the pedals.
i got mine (and rings) from bicycle specialties in Canada
the website says they have closed doors but i shot them an email and was still able to buy rings from them.

Thanks for the info!
Looks like it was called the "Professional". Maybe used the "Criterium" rings too...
Looks like there was an adapter for the 3-bolt arms too.

I have one of those adapters that lets me run 122 bcd rings on a Stronglight 49D or TA Cyclotouriste. Joel Metz shows a few variations on his TA page: http://www.blackbirdsf.org/ta/pro5.html
