I dont believe TREK allows online sales. I paid 2100 here in NYC but I have a long standing relationship with my LBS. Good Luck!

Like postmansi says I don't think your going to find a dealer that sells Treks online.
Heres the best places to buy other brands online:

Try R&A Cycles in NY. They were selling mail order at slightly reduced prices but, I am not sure if they still do. It has been 6 months or more since I last talked to them. Phil is the man.

$22 - 2300 is about the going price for the 5200. Thats the typical price here in NC - at least when there is an existing LBS relationship. Of course after taxes it is back up to the $2400+ range.

In the end I recommend that you stick with your LBS even if it is a couple bills more. It's pocket change compared to the depreciation on your car - even if it is no longer new. Saving a couple hundred is not worth running all over the country for. Also, your LBS can give you some peace of mind by a thorough preflight check, a free first 100 mile tune up, a change of stem and/or handlebar as necessary to ensure a good fit, maybe even a swap out of rear cogset if desired. And if you have any trouble, they are always there - even though it is very unlikely since the 5200 is such an excellent bike.

The rise of online bike sales is threatening the viability of everyone's LBS. If we want them to be around in the future, the only way is if we support them when we can. Of course you should only support those that offer good service and are worthwhile, so if you can find one, buying through them is a win for the long term.

I was also wondering about my recent Trek purchase, thinking about how much I was slugged to get the bike here to Oz etc. In the end I just went the LBS as I'd like them to be around for years to come.

agree with above go to LBS. I bought my 52000 at my LBS. They also sold me all accessories at a good discount at time of purchase. I was in need of shoes, pedals, pump etc. All tolled up the savings on those items made the overall price even better. On top of that they are there when I need them- good service, good folks to bounce ideas off of- hard to put a price on that, but it counts for a quite a lot in my book.

Most bicycle manufacturers will not allow online sales. This lke mentioned above is a good thing. Besides the "mart" stores grabbing up ignorant consumers, online sales also helps to lead to the demise of LBS.

Try Jax Bikes in Long Beach, Fullerton, Irvine. There prices seem lower than most LBS.
