Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I've done a major upgrade to www.biketouringtips.com and need to have it tested on IE6 before I deploy it for real.

I have tested it on IE7 (can't run IE6 on a PC with IE7 installed), Firefox, and Safari and it works fine. But, IE6 has been a thorn in my side from the get-go and a sizable number of people are still using IE6 to view the site (a full 15%).

Can someone who uses IE6 check out this new page: www.biketouringtips.com/testpage.html and let me know if it is working OK or any problems you have? You can PM, if you prefer.

The main difference is that this new page displays a thread's main post under the thread's title instead of using a new window/tab to do it. It makes it much easier to get to the underlying links then the current way of doing it. Re-clicking on the title or the Close button takes it away. The "Display Full Thread" link should open up a new window/tab to display the thread and its comments (if there are any).

Thanks,

Ray

Works fine on 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.080814-1233

You should tryout VMware or virtualbox for testing from multiple systems.

Shows same results with a search for both Chrome and IE6.

Looks okay to me in IE6. Didn't dig too deep, but all the major links on the front page seemed to work. I seldom use IE any more. But the company insists that I keep it on their laptop:rolleyes:

Thanks for all your help.

I don't really want all the hassle of maintaining two different versions of Windows just to occasionally test a website on IE6. The percentage of people who hit the site using IE6 is around 15%. When it gets under 5%, I will stop worrying about it. Eventually, it will become background noise, like some other browsers.

I plan to switch the whole site over soon.

Thanks, again,

Ray
