Just bought some Aztec Enduro pads to replace the original ones in my Deore 585 disc brakes, but putting them in ive found there is no clearance between them to fit the rotor.
The metal body of the pad is the same thickness as the originals so i guess its the thickness of the braking material thats different.
My question is can i file them down to allow the rotor to fit betwen them?

is there an adjustment screw to back the calipers out?

Put the pads in the caliper and then use a large screwdriver (or similar) to make sure that the pistons are completely retracted. You should be able to get everything reassembled then.
