Just kidding. I still haven't gotten to ride any trail with the new Commode, but I did take her down a few stairs and curb jumps when I got home today. Micro review-

-Marz 55 R: Wow! So much more plush than my Vanilla right outta the box. There's only 10mm difference, but there feels like more than that. I'm loving the TA...very laterally Grrr! Nice having an air assist b/c I noticed that it's super plush, but at the end of travel, the compressed air ramps up quite well resisting harsh bottom out. I thought I was having Hydro lock there for a second b/c I bounced up'n'down on it with locked arms just to see if I could get full travel. I was lacking an inch. I let some air out and full travel was had easily. About 15psi in the assist was perfect for nice plush ride with good bottom-out resistance.

It will obviously take quite a bit of time to get completely comfortable on the slacker HA with 50mm stem, but so far...I'm loving the difference. I feel like I'm playing around more now instead of the steep, stretched out "all business" setup that I previously had.

There's plenty of seat tube and post for full leg extension and when I slam the seat down...it's plenty "out of the way" to do some drops and use my legs to suck up the pounding.

I'll keep an update on the rest of it as I ride more, but so far I'm wondering why I didn't do something like this sooner.:thumb:

Perhaps, but without a motor it'd be a royal b|tch to pedal.

You've gotta quit this, gastro. I was at my long-lost riding buddy Dave's place in Moscow, ID this weekend (the one whose son I co-otped into DH racing :D) and had to endure ogling all manner of their cool hardware, including both of their KTM 950s and Dave's newly-acquired street-legal XR650R (with a humongous Acrebis desert tank). I'm getting bitten hard!

. . . on top of that, he's got a beautiful little blue M coupe. I never knew the Z3 came as a GT (but then, there's a lot I don't know). If it weren't for the fact that he's had such a tough go of life, I'd hate him :D

cryptid01
10-27-08, 05:12 PM
Most of the coupes are of the M variety, but I believe there are a small number of non-M Z3 coupes out there. Styling is love it or hate it (count me as the former). The later model years went to the S54 motor out of the E46 M3 - 333HP in that little thing makes a lively drive indeed.

And don't forget, I blame/owe you for pushing me over the tipping point with this moto nonsense.

I think this is a really cool idea but as you can imagine it's getting mixed reactions in the moto community: KTM electric motorcycle (http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/10/ktm-builds-a-ra.html)

Nasty. There is always one parked at an office that I walk past to and from school. It looks sweet in its dark blue. But the new M coupe looks really cool to. I saw a Z3 coupe racing at one of the many random club races that accompanies the ALMS race at Mid-Ohio each year. Might have been Grandam though.

For 65,000$, I could build my self up a nice Caterham (or find a Lotus 7 and have someone restore it for me).

Back off-topic: glad to see I'm not the only lover of the closed cars. I've found over the years, for some odd aesthetic reason, that I prefer them to their roadster counterparts. Favorites: MGB-GT, Triumph GT-6, Lotus Elan HT & hardtop Sunbeam Tiger (well, those are both removelable HTs, I believe) Cobra coupe, etc., etc. . . . and of course now the M Coupe.

Me too. Coupes offer better handling, and aerodynamics.. and in my opinion better looks. I spent a good bit of my very early childhood riding around in the lugage area under the rear hatch of my mom's '67 triumph gt-6.. my brother got the front seat..
