Great Lakes - Moving to Iowa City in Fall 2009, what's the riding like?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Is there any hilly riding around the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area? Or is it mostly the typical flat, midwestern fare? And what else is there to know about riding in Iowa City?
I've been in Bloomington, IN for the past couple of years, so I've been quite spoiled with some beautiful riding and a great cycling scene :) Let me know, thanks!

There is a fair amount of climbing depending on what routes you want to take. I am from Cedar Rapids, and if I head North, I can go on some really flat routes, but heading South it can get quite hilly. From Iowa City if you head North towards the Coralville Resivour there is some good hills there as well, but I have only ridden down that way a handful of times. For Cedar Rapids info you can go to http://www.hawkeyebike.org/ and the site for Iowa Cities Club is down right now, but www.bikeiowa.com (http://www.bikeiowa.com) has a bunch of info, as does www.bikeiowa.org (http://www.bikeiowa.org)

There are several bike clubs all over eastern Iowa. If you were coming to SW Iowa, you could ride your butt off in hills but you'd always be alone! Google bike clubs in Iowa or, like Greenfast said, check bikeiowa.org or com.
