Just wondering what kind of shoes you would recommend for a biker with a wider foot?

Sidi has a line of shoes that come in "Mega" as well as standard sizes. I have found that my Sidis are the best fitting shoes I own and that's not just compared to other cycling shoes either.

The Carnacs are very generous in width.. The DMT Chrono X are also wide and can be had direct for quite a deal at:

www.dmtshoes.com

I also found the Diadora Cosmos to be very wide, most of the other diadoras are a little on the narrow side, so it is just this model..

Carnacs - they do a very wide range, performance, leisure, touring etc.
Excellent build and fit.

Sidi mega...the Sidi advantage is the the moving parts are replaceable. If you go the the Genius level, the buckle is replaceable, the arch support is replaceable, the heel pad...and I know three people who are riding lorica Sidi's in their tenth year. Same shoe.

Sidi's the most popular shoe, worldwide, for a reason.

I've heard that Sidi is careful about cleat placement, so when you buy a replacement pair of Sidi's, you can just duplicate the placement from your previous pair.

I like SIDI. I use them with Speedplays and they are super comfortable.

My foot is a 11 EEE. I'd recommend Sidi, Lake, Northwave, or Shimano. I've tried PI - too narrow.

Everybody's foot is different and since you don't know what will fit your foot you need to go to your LBS and try some on.

Don't buy via mail order or Internet.

Cycling shoes and clipless pedals, IMHO, are the first major upgrade any new road cyclist should consider.

Listen to Moonshot. What works for my feet -- or anyone else's foot -- may not work for you. So you need to try multiple pairs on before buying. That said, I am happy with my Sidi Genius 4 Mega, size 46 shoes. And like roadwarrior said, the moveable parts are replaceable. I've replaced at least one buckle and a couple of heels on mine. You can even purchase the airsole insoles. I guess that makes Sidi the Campagnolo of cycling shoes. :D
