Great Lakes - Official Red Flannel Roll Call

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The other Red Flannel thread got side tracked so here is the new and improved official Red Flannel assuming the weather is going to be decent roll call. Add your name below if you will be rocking the Flannel.

I mentioned the Flannel on todays little group ride, and to my surprise 3 others expressed interest in tagging along. Another BF regular Spinnaker, was among them. Man did we do some rolling hills today. My legs feel kind of like lead at the moment, but it's a good thing.

I was planning on being at the registration area around 8:00am. Last minute registration stuff, because I'm coming from out of town. I've met Chip, and Cheri before at the Lancaster ride, so I know I can spot them. I'll have a Blue Flyte SRS 3, and I'll be wearing a Health-Net Maxxis jersey with a Western Pennsylvania Wheelmen wind vest on top for the start as long as the weather is accurate. So far, the weather forecast looks like a winner.
If my buddies come along we'll be up Saturday some time. If they don't, I may just drive up on event day. I have a room reserved in North Ridgeville Saturday night just in case.
Is the plan to start the ride together? We can, and probably will splinter off at different paces at some point. Not neccesarily, but it might happen.

I'll be there with my two boy's. Not sure what I'll be wearing. I'll have to ask my wife which jersey looks best and if any make me look fat. I have a red Specialized Roubaix, my son's will be on a naked carbon Felt F-1 and a gray Cervelo TT bike. If we miss you guy's at the start, just look of an old guy sucking wheel behind two young guns.

Ill be on my Red Specialized....just not sure which one yet. Probably wearing a wool long sleeve jersey and a red vest with a fadded Yellow helmet. Ill be the slow guy with the bum knee.....

It'll be good to see you again, Denny! I figure we'll get down there around 8ish, registration really doesn't take too long. You can fill out and print a registration form online at http://www.lorainwheelmen.org/RF_Application.pdf
With Cheri along, I won't be part of the youngins hammerfest, but for anyone that wants to start out together, how does a 9am start time sound for a target? That should give everyone time to be registered, get their stuff together and for the sun to warm things up to at least 40-45.
So what did you do to your knee Gary? Mine has been bothering me a bit, but I attribute it to the colder temps and lack of riding for the week I spent interviewing. (Freaking ironic, ain't it? I get some time off from having to work and don't get much time to ride!)

Wish I knew Chip. Has been bothering me on and off all season but lately it has been getting worse and more frequent. My calf gets what feels like a Charley horse just below the back of my knee when ever I pedal moderately. Sometimes the pain up into my knee as well. I had my fit checked and everything is good there....

Last time we rode the Red Flannel Metric Century in Lorrainne, Ohio was in the mid-1970s on our then new Follis tandem. Recall it as a warm day with a guy leading off the ride in red long underwear and there was only one hill near or in a park.
Nice to see the ride is still on-going!
Pedal on TWOgether!

Check: Got the form filled, and printed. Plus I made a couple blanks for Spinnaker, and Dave (if he decides to come) to fill out at the hotel room prior.
Chip, it will be good to see Cheri, and you again as well. Let's avoid the cornfields this time around
9:00 am roll out sounds good to me :thumb:. That'll give me time to grab a decent breakfast also.
Hammerfest, there won't be no Hammerfest coming from me, so maybe we'll stick together after all. Spinnaker doesn't race the pace much either, so I'm sure he'll be content going with the flow.
I'm looking forward to meeting all you other BFer's as well. BF gatherings rule!!
Denny
PS If you see a guy in his 40's with three gashes in his forehead, that would be me. I had a fight with some plywood sticking out of the back of my sisters pick-up twice. The plywood won both times.

You do, he's the FAST guy on the P3 on the Spin rides. He usually catches up with the A's at the bottom of Hogsback.
Man, am I jealous of all you!!! That weather (knock on wood, leinad knocks self on head) is looking bbbbeeeeaaauuutifullll and all I get to do is make pancakes for you jokers. Make sure to say Hi to me and the missus as you roll through the rest stop in Mill Hollow park (first stop on the long route). As I said I make the pancakes and my wife makes the cookies.
