Just from what I read they are not very good bikes anymore??

This will be my first bike ever, so my budget would be 300. I will be riding on some terrain, more of around town, some bike trails, from house to beach. I like the idea of the aluminum suspension with shocks to get a smooth ride right? But will it be able to take little jumps(im 195 and about 5'10")? Nothing to serious but just to have fun and exercise without breaking the bank.

Any other bikes that have the same features that you guys recommend?

Thanks for the help!

A full suspension for under 1,000 will be lower end.

For $300 I would get a good hardtail bike (front shocks, solid rear frame) from your local bike shop. New Schwinns are not all that great from what I have heard.

Read the customer reviews in that link you gave.

Single pivot suspension, NICE! I can't see that frame breaking though. It seems like the way that seat tube is designed would withstand any terrain.

May as well order this while your at it:
