Foo - This may explain why cyclists act the way they do

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

News reports are circulating of a recent study (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jAskNsYApKoZOnQOEjC3aH1E-eLAD940DAC81) that associates physical warmth with emotional warmth towards other human beings.

I spend a huge percentage of the time on my bike freezing my аss off, and I know I have plenty of company. For a 40 degree ride this morning, I just wore two jerseys (but I did wear leg warmers). Even when the temp is at or slightly below the freezing level, I don't bother with a windbreaker unless I expect to be caught in cold rain in the afternoon.

Strangely enough, when I'm on the couch at home, I prefer to be covered with a blanket.

All I know is that when I cycle in the cold, I feel a hell of a lot better with myself and towards others.

The enigma of HTFU, hard at work.

No matter how scantily I dress when riding, I always end up in a heavy sweat. As long as I keep my feet, face, and hands warm, I'm fine. I wear long stuff so I'm not suffering so bad at the start.

If your hands and feet aren't numb during the ride and you don't experience excruciating pain as they defrost when you finish, you're not doing it right...
