Classic & Vintage - Girls bikes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have yet to see any antique girls bikes being sold. Are these not considered colloectors items? or are they just rare and thats y not many are sold? and if there rare are they then worth more?
IMO, most collectors are guys, so guys bikes interest them the most. Girls bikes might actually be more common, 'cause girls tend to keep their stuff in better condition / don't abuse it like boys. On the other hand, truly antique women's bikes (> 25 to 50 years old) might be rarer due to lower production numbers. Antique and vintage women's bikes are probably a so far untapped collectors market.

Have no idea of the value but i have a 1972 20 inch girls bike. It was bought brand new in Japan and I have the original receipt in Japanese. It's a Miyata Minilook in near perfect condition. It has the factory made light and generator- front basket and rear rack. Should have some value, anyone have any ideas what I should do with this?

I (my mother) got a girls bike from 1940-45, uncertain of the year. :)
Hi! Keep an eye on you local newspaper and garage sales, you can come up with some amazing stuff.
I just bought a matched, museum grade, pair (men's & women's) 1976 Schwinn Suburbans. No scratches, no dings and I didn't even haggle over the price. I've got the men's bike up and running and it rides great; will start on the women's next week, probably.
If you're anywhere near Michigan, it (the women's) could be yours! ;^)

Girls bikes are not collectable. Go figure.

The Avenger was the one of the 5 speed, youth's bicycles with the banana seat and high rise handlebars. It was an early 1970s AMF Roadmaster model.
