Great Lakes - I am not ready for winter!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Let me start off by saying I hate to be cold. On my ride today I had SNOW and SLEET boucing off my Spiuk jacket, I am not ready for this schmidt. An hour after my ride, my toes are still freezing! I just keep thinking ahead to the long, boring hours that lay ahead of me on the Krietler rollers. I might have to get into this cyclocross thing.
I really planned to ride till the snow stopped me. I am such a wuss, not one day since it got cold. I have excuses, but if it was 70 degrees I would have rode ever day last week. Woe is me, I am a wuss.

I've got lots of videos that may help make the roller hours more interesting, but +1 to the cross thing. Expected to see you out there yesterday!
I now know cross will keep me riding outside until that season is over. I usually ride year round at least once a week outside. I could use a little off-season, but I don't think I can take 3-4 months of it. Glad cross is helping to fill that space...

I went for a early ride yesterday and then hung out with my parents in the afternoon. Dads not doing so well. Glad to hear you did so well in the race. Ill make it to the St. Chuck race (TO WATCH), it's about 1 1/2 miles from my house. I would be interested in checking out some of your vids, never used one before. I know watching my son play video games is out, I fall off everytime, moving with the action.

Riding Saturday am was warm and balmy compared to some of what we dealt with yesterday. I'm pretty sure that if I can ride through all of that, I can deal with most everything (even if I did suck).
If you're serious about not racing this weekend, here's what I'd suggest. Go early. Get there around 9:00. Ride the course... you're going to hate it.
Then, watch the first race (10:00, for the 30+ crew). Half way into that, you'll get the itch to race.
We'll look for you to line up at 3:00 with the other 4b fresh meat.

+1 - seriously. Definitely pre-ride the course. I'll be out there. We can pre-ride it all together. I will most likely volunteer as well. Race is put on by Bicycle Heaven so I feel obligated to help.

Early in the week I was planning to come out to watch the race but ended up with a REALLY BAD cold by Sunday. After spending about an hour and a half at my daughter's soccer game, I went home to sleep.

You going to volunteer all day? I was thinking of maybe trying to help out early, head home for lunch and the beginning of the Bears game, and then get back around 1:30ish.
If I pull that off, you're welcome to swing by mid-day as well.
i hate winter. my SAD has already flared up on my. it's ugly. later.

Looks like winter came too early. The post count on here has dropped to nothing....

I don't believe in winter. My seasons go strait from October to April. There is no winter for me. And that white stuff kind of confuses me, but I can deal with it.

I'm going riding tonight on the Bicycle Heaven cross ride...again....did it last week and it rocked. Total darkness racing on a grass oval in "god knows where".
Pulled out the heavy winter tights though....

I am totally ready for epic:
Trainer rides. Like a LOTR trilogy weekend maybe.
Weather rides. Gale force blizzards and drifts.
In the meantime my HTFU bracelet broke, so now my back hurts.
