I tried replacing the generic threaded alloy stem on my KHS flight 100 with a salsa quill stem, but I can't get it tight enough. The headset is a 1inch threaded, and the salsa stem is for this size. Any suggestions?

What happens? Creaks, moves? If it creacks, grease should help. Otherwise, compatibilty issues or something else...
