Im so friggin bored here in college...even the same old parties i used to love have become boring. I think getting an underground racing thing going here would ba awesome. I was wondering if anyone here has some tips on getting one started here in my town. Help me out in anyway, thanks

actually, me and my friends just had an alleycat here in SF. we had one non-racer pick out the checkpoints. we didn't know the checkpoints until we started the race - we were first given the 1st half of the race. at the midpoint, we had to chug a couple of beers, and then were given the 2nd half of the route, which of course ended up at Zeitgeist, the coolest outdoor bar in SF.

since we didn't have lots of extra non-biking friends to hand out checkpoint receipts, we took pictures of the checkpoints to prove we were there.

it was pretty non-competitive, but it was fun nontheless. we're gonna try to make it a little more formal the next time around.

so, first thing is you need to find some riders. the rest of it is pretty easy to do. it's unfortunate for us that we've all got jobs during the week, so we had to deal with annoying weekend traffic (i'd rather race through rush hour traffic).

maybe have a prize or something for the winner (or free beer) as incentive.

the coolest thing is that you can be really creative in planning the races. one of the more interesting ones is where you have a list of all the checkpoints, and each is worth different points (depending on distance, hills, or if you have to chug a beer). you have to be back at the starting point in exactly 90 minutes. the person who has the most points wins.

also, this link was in a previous thread, but there is a new video up - should provide some alleycat inspiration:
