Foo - College is Sweet

It's my last semester in school, I've already got a great job lined up after graduation, and I work 2 jobs to support my cycling addiction. I don't start any of my classes until 10:30 every day, and I typically ride 6 days a week for a couple of hours during the weekdays with a longer ride on Sunday.

My job after school has no set hours, no dress code, and I live close enough that I can bike to work if I want to. I guess my slackerdom knows no end.

Anyone else got it good too?

Well.... sounds like you got your ducks in a row and you're gunna be able to support that "fun" addiction.. wish i could say the same.. still got 2 1/2.. good luck and enjoy riding

Don't get into a Slacker Competition with Uncle Pcad kid. I've been at this for 20 years, and I'm 50 now. My whole friggin business was started in large part so I could ride my bike every day, and that was 17 years ago next month.

I'm the Grand Zen Master of friggin Slacker. I could teach you much young Slackerling. In the meantime, don't take work too seriously, and of course, keep riding your bike. If you do the latter, everything else will take care of itself.

I got my own office and i'm helping kids and getting paid for it. I'm content right now :)

Life was very easy and enjoyable my final year of college. Now, it's still pretty good, but I know my finals are going to be much. much. harder.

I'm a senior in school, but it's weird because I'm actually will be coming back in January for my sixth term out of 8 (cooperative education agreement).

I've been working at a pretty good company for six months now, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning. The level of work is really not stimulating enough; I'm lusting to code again...I did pick up a client for my consultant work on the side, and that's working out nicely so far.

I will try and talk to a few people to see if I can get a part-time job worth working for during the semester, so that I can try and rack up some experience and continue to have a nice source of income as well. If all else fails, I'll either work at a bike shop or try for a barista at Starbucks (I look good enough for the position :p).

The plan going forward is that if we're not in the Great Depression II, I will try to find yet another corporate job sometime over the summer (starting in January), hopefully either far away where they pay for my housing and all of that jazz or in the City (I'm acclimating better to it). That will be the job that I'll try to start my career off with, since new hire interviews are tougher than intern interviews + proving your salt.

Life is much easier for me now out that I am out of school, even with a newborn at home.

As a music major I had classes from 8am until 9:30pm with no breaks, 5 days a week, for four years, with internships out of town every summer. Then I had to practice 3 hours a day on top of that. And I worked 5 hours a week.

Looking back, I have no idea how I did it.

I had a career in my field for 4 years. I am in the middle of taking a break. I should be back into soon...

Glad I didn't go to grad school; it would have been worse.

I'm (hopefully) graduating this semester myself.

What is tough is that I had a job lined up with (at the time) a very stable firm where I knew all the people, they knew me, and it was a perfect fit. In fact, the job interview was pretty much a token thing.

Problem is, a couple weeks ago, the company was bought out and closed down, so I'm back to square 1 when it comes to finding something once I'm out of college. Combine this, plus some jobs I worked at where I signed a NDA on, and I have a big gap in my resume that I have to find a way to pursuade potential employers I'm actually hirable.

No biggie though. I know people in far worse straits. I can always take the time to see if I can write a RPG for the iPhone.
