Has anyone ridden a Madsen kg271? I would like to hear about the experience.

hey those are pretty cool. Wish they had more/better pics on their website, especially of the accessories.

No kidding about the accessory pictures. They are either a fairly recent start-up or they aren't terribly worried about the customer's perception. Personally, I would have left off certain pages or information on a page if I couldn't back it up with the necessary information.

I've got a detailed writeup after a week on the bike here:

I too wrote a review here: http://austinontwowheels.org/2009/02/15/review-a-first-look-at-the-madsen-bucket-cargo-bike/

The bucket one is cool for ferrying around up to four kids or two adults. It reminds one of a rickshaw. Of course the bucket can also be used for cargo as well as people hauling. If you don't need to ferry around people, the long rack version is a better bet.

I thought I had responded to this and don't see- pardon a duplication if there is another somewhere.

First thought is, can two adults really sit in that tub?
Second thought, I think one of the writeups mentioned a 24" rear wheels, but it looks smaller.

Yep. It can handle up to 660 pounds! So you can haul a significant amount of weight and still have a stable bike with nimble handling! I think the wheels are 26." 700C wheels don't stand up well to that kind of abuse and 26" can take everything you can dish out!

2 adults are possible. I'm not sure how comfy your feet will be. Maybe I'll swing by and see if I can try it with 2 adults.

My original story mentioned a 24" back wheel. That was a typo. It's 20". The front is 26".

Actually, it is rated to more like 600 pounds. 271 kilos referred to in its name converts to 597.5 pounds.

Which is approximately 24" weighted average (weighted for area of the circle inscribed)...

However, I'm really digging this Madsen from all the write ups.
