Hi ya'll. New Member here. 20 years and about 50 lbs later...ex avid rider wishing to get back into the scene. http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Still have my once very sweet Schwinn Cimarron MTB http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/1luvu.gifand decent Roadbike. Both are very rideable and not too shabby looking either. Most of the original parts are still on it. I am very interested in swapping parts with someone with similar retro tastes! I have an interest in putting these baddies back into original condition just for the fun and memory of it.

Now, my pride and joy is that I have one of Bontrager's first copies of the straight switchblade fork. All stainless, no paint - in nearly original condition. Anyone else got one of these? I have searched the internet and haven't found nary a one other than mine yet. Right now, I am mostly looking for a resource for original Schwinn Cimarron stickers. If I had some of those, I would strip and repaint my frame!

Well - aloha for now!

What's up? I'm here in Honolulu and I'm into vintage bikes, so if you are looking for something in particular, lemme know.

Hi 87Cimarron--there's a thread in the Classic & Vintage forum for those classic mountainbikes--stop by and post some photos for us. You might even dredge up a fellow collector!

Welcome to BikeForums :D .

Thanks for replying to my post!

Yeah, right now I am looking for a way to fix my Bontrager Straight Blade Forks. Bought these in 87 and they have served me well. I bent one of the stems the other day in a wreck, and am trying to find a replacement. Here are some pics of it:

Any leads you have of how to get just the Right Hand stem (when viewed from the riding seat when installed. ) Thats the one I bent. The other one is fine.

Mahalo!

I will check that out. Thanks!

So here is a pic of the original ad for the Scwinn Cimarron back in the 80's. I just love this bike. Its more of a tourer than an agressive MTB but it handles fine in the hills to! A tad heavy for todays standards, but its a real comfortable ride for a hard tail - and with those fillet brazed top and down tube, and lugs everywhere else, its super solid. CrMo over Aluminum any day for me!

so imagine this nice ride with those straight Old-School Bonty forks, a ritchey stem, straight handlebars and you pretty much have my bike in mind. Ill get some pics of her uploaded. She certainly doesn't sparkle as much these days but is holding up pretty well.
