Where is a good place to stay (in Austin) after the finish of the Houston-Austin MS-150?

There's a bajillion hotels all around the city - all up and down I-35, 183, and plenty more I don't know about. Do you want to stay close to the downtown area? Does the ride end on a Saturday afternoon? If it's a weekend when Texas has a home game or some other event going on in Austin, you probably need to get something booked as soon as possible. Personally, I like to stay downtown or as close to it as possible because I like to ride my bike down around TownLake, Zilcher Park, etc. But, rooms tend to cost more in that area. There's also a B&B here and there.

The ride finishes at the Bullock Museum, which is on the North side of the Capital. Probably a 2-3 mile pedal from downtown and most of the hotels. You could also pedal Northeast to I-35 / 183 area for more budget / chain oriented places.

Don't forget this section of Craigslist (http://austin.craigslist.org/search/sub?query=austin&minAsk=min&maxAsk=100&bedrooms=)...put Austin in search window and put in your top budget amount in "max" price area...good deals to be had in some nice houses or apartments...

My main question is, what do you want to do after you ride the MS150? What do you want to do should probably determine where you try to stay - or what area you stay in. And how much money do you want to spend?

You can stay on the South side of Town Lake for a little less than the North side. I thought that Embassy Suites was pretty reasonble. And it's close to Barton Springs, Zilker park, and just on the S end of the Congress St. bridge. You probably can't go wrong no matter where you stay if you're reasonably close to d/t.

Hotel San Jose (http://www.sanjosehotel.com/) on South Congress is a very "Keep Austin Wierd" kind of boutique hotel. Right in the middle of things on the south side. It's not cheap but not crazy either.
