Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - I did it (my first "triathalon day", sort of)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Yesterday, I managed to bike for 20 miles (RT commute to work), swim 800 meters at lunch, and then run a 5K on a treadmill at the Y in the evening. Now all I need to do is to be able to do all three, one right after another.
And yes, I'm tired today.:D

p.s. I meant "triathlon"; just because I work at a University doesn't mean I can spell.

Nice. I have been wanting to do a tri. I had plans this past summer and the one I wanted to do picked out. I had the bike part down, the running I could struggle thru with a decent time. I would bike 30 minutes then run 30 minutes and still feel like I coudl do more. My big hang up however was the swim. I could do 800m but not all at once. I would do 2 laps and have to rest to get some air. I would mix between freestyle and breast stroke and floating on my back and kicking. I figure if I try that in open water I am doomed. Took me close to 45 - 60 minutes to do the swim which is not a very good time at all and it was in a pool. Needless to say I didn't achieve my goal last summer.

atcfoody: Congrats & Well Done. :thumb: Still quite an accomplishment. I hope to join the ranks soon!
BigUgly: I'm in the same boat as you. I intend on doing my 1st Sprint Triathlon in PA May 31st (Black Bear Triathlon.) I looked @ the 2008 results for the novice (First Time Triathletes) group and saw some swim+T1 times in the mid to upper 30 minute range (29 min to 39 min.) There is still hope for us!!!

Have you looked into a Duathlon? I did my first last weekend, and it was a blast. It is all of the wonderful goodness of a multisport race without the nastiness of the swim. Sites like http://www.trifind.com/ will list both triathlons and duathlons.

Bone Head - the tri I picked out was the Black Bear Tri at Beltsville Lake as well. I kind of felt attached to that lak since I used to go there a lot when I was kid(swimming, water skiing, and fishing).
Race - I am going to look into a dual, I am still planning to try to get in the pool more this winter.
atcfoody - if you can do the three already, I would make the attempt at the tri. I am thinking the toughest part is the swim, the other 2 events you may be able to struggle through to finish.
My goal is to just finish one, and if I am still having fun at the end, I will try another.
