I'm starting my job in DC this Monday and will be riding my bike. Anyone of you DCer's know where I can leave my car during the day? I don't have a permit to park yet (just found a place to live this past weekend and I'm still in NJ).
I'll be living by the Potomac Ave Metro stop, but is there anywhere within a few miles I can park without too much worry?

Haha, I think this is gonna be a problem after reading this blog...

There are always a few blocks in residential areas of DC where they have taken down the signs for road work (or someone has stolen them) and they haven't been replaced. The trick is to identify these areas, park there, and move your car as seldom as possible.
I'm not joking. I did this for months in Adams Morgan.
I'm pretty sure you can also get a visitor/temporary pass at your local Police precinct. Give them a call to find out.

Parking in DC?
Sucks. ;)
I haven't had to do anything weird, though, so I'm not much help. I got to park at work for my first few months here, then used a couple blocks of unrestricted curbside parking until I moved into the District proper and got my Zone 6 permit.
Dig around here and see what you can find:

Aha:

and

You'd use your apartment lease agreement to prove proof of residency.
Potomac Ave. Metro stop? That's due East of where I work. Hmm.... not sure if there are any unmarked blocks down there at the moment...
