I've been cycling about 13 years, mostly a roadie. Took it up as a mid life "I can't believe I'm so sedentary" crisis. It has scratched an itch that I didn't know I had. Recreational, centuries, some supported touring. I commute in nice weather. I rode a Gazelle in college for transportation. My first mid life bike was a used Torpado that I paid $200 for. I invested much love, time and new parts into it, and I can't part with it (it's my commuter bike now). I'm still a sucker for lugged steel.

I live 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. My job keeps me from traveling very much, but I haven't found any place that I'd rather ride than right here in the Appalacian mountains.

Welcome to BF.
You have some very nice bikes and a Great Place to use them.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm a novice at forums. I'd rather be on my bike, but it's cold and windy today.

Time to type a thank you letter to my MS Bike Tour sponsors.

Do you have photos of the Torpado? We'd love to see them in the Classic & Vintage forum.
