Mountain Biking - new bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi, I'm currently buying a new bike and a few bikes that caught my eye were the Olympus and Cape Wrath models from Claud Butler. A huge factor in buying the bike for me is the weight (I'm looking at around 26 pounds hopefully). Unfortunately Claud Butler don't give the weights of their models - argh!! I was just wondering if anyone out there has these bikes (or alternatively the 2003 models) and could give me an idea of the weights. I was also looking at a few fuji bikes - the suncrest and tahoe - any comments on these or fuji bikes in genereal. Thanks for reading and hopefully replying.

Have you looked at Kona bikes? they seem to have some good offerings. As far as Fuji and the other one (Claud?) haven't heard anything about em. good luck!

Claud butler are a UK Manufacturer, (Probably owned by some far eastern company by now) but their bikes are not often seen in the UK. The weight will be around 30lbs as a minimum, as they cater mainly for the lower end of the market. Never heard of Fuji bikes, and I don't think there is any connection, but I have a custom built bike made of Fuji steel tubing that is unbelievably light. Frame weight of 3.1 lbs and by carefull selection of parts and rigid forks, built into a 21 lb bike,
Weight is not everything as it is how light the bike rides that is important. Three manufacturers to look at. Kona, Bianchi, Cannondale. All 3 make fantastic bikes, all manufactures bikes work, and all 3 start off at budget prices and go up. Going onto the run of the mill manufacturers, you have all the rest, but I would rate Claud butler as good manufacturer, but not a great one.
