I was too late.

In the past there's been plenty of tickets for sale on Craigslist. People sign up and don't get the training in or something else comes up.

I have bought tickets this way twice. One was from a very nice woman in Oregon whose daughter decided to get married on that day.

Active.com still sucks though. Be careful and check every single page or you'll wind up getting some unwanted magazine subscription. Or worse.

Yah, I got into Triple Bypass in Colorado last year that way. I prefer getting it over with early and getting the registration right away, but these things are always on sale on Craigslist and usually at only a small premium compared to the official price.

A friend of mine showed up the morning of the ride and got in. He says that how he's done it for 5 years now. A little risky for me but Craigslist is almost a sure thing if you're really desperate.

I really hope to get in this year. The 2009 racing schedule was just posted and there is no major conflict that weekend for once (only the Carrera de San Rafael Crit).

Bummer for me is that on January 14 I'll be riding down to Big Sur on my way to Solvang. Hope I can enter through my iPhone while riding :D

To follow up on Woodfords being horrible to climb, it does make up somewhat when you can come down screaming like a bat out of hell in the double lane section. You know why they need double lanes there --- because it is freaking steep lol. My van has a tough time climbing that particular section. So yeah for higher speeds as you say, in this section - I hit 56mph on it in 2006. Talk about tunnel vision and every little crack in the lane looking like death valley  You can at least for once be passing cars at high speed :thumb:

so... are you going to register with BobbyG?
