I've always heard that only the last 200m of a match sprint is timed. I started thinking about that tonight and now I'm wondering why is any part of the sprint timed? I know that flying 200 times are used to seed the first round, but after that aren't all subsequent rounds based off of who won the previous rounds? Does it play a role in repechages? Or is it just interesting/useful data?
