This 2004 Scattante CFR Limited Edition has all dura ace components and it's weight is 16.3 total pounds for $2099.0. I'm planning to travel to a supergo this weekend and check it out in person, but was wondering if anyone has tried em both and there thoughts.

I have never ridden the 5200 but I own the CFR, the ultegra normal version. The ride is extremely smooth. It feels great to me. I have had no complaints at all with the frame or bike in general. The most problems Ive had have been with the wheels, which dont come on the cfr's anymore anyway so you dont need to worry about that. I say for the package and price the CFR in any guise is hard to beat.

I have the R-650 and think it's a great bike as well. Just over 17lbs with Ultegra for $1000. It's hard to beat the deal on Scattante.

I'm going to the Ocenside store, they did say by phone that they would fit me to the point of exchanging equipment till the fit occurs, likes stems and what not, can't beat that deal and dura ace components. The warranty is only 5 years thou, that's kinda puzzling considering everyone else is lifetime.

Giant also has their bikes listed at a 5 year warranty for whatever reason. Although I suppose that with this good of a deal you can't really be picky on whether the frame is warranted for life.

That sure is a nice looking ride with an impresssive component list. Seems like a great price too. If I wasn't already set up, I'd certainly take a long hard look.

Everyone else may have a lifetime warranty, but only for defects in materials and workmanship, as determined by the dealer/manufacturer. If you read the warranty clauses from Trek, C'dale, and other majors, you'll see that fatigue and wearout isn't covered. This exclusion is reasonable to me; wouldn't expect them to supply free lifetime replacement frames to a racer hammering out 25K miles a year.

If the Supergo warranty covers wearout and fatigue for 5 years, that would be a strong warranty.

Please keep us all posted--I am considering the exact same bikes and would love feedback on your ride experience on the CFR LE. I live in VA so test riding a CFR is a bit difficult. I recently rode the new Trek 5000 (a level down across components from the 5200 but same frame NOTE different fork tho). I liked the 5000 alot--way better ride than my 03 Giant TCR1. Wouldn't buy a 5000 tho as component set was too weak--it was a price point bike--$1999--its not even in the Trek 04 brochure.

I have also been told (an it looks accurate) that the CFR is built by EPX bikes. Check the closeups of the CFR and the EPX--joints are identical.

Sandico, were riding the same bike,I also got the 03 Giant Tcr1 and looking for a upgrade,I test rode the 5200 then bought the Giant online without riding it 1st.It just didn't do it for me but since I'm committing to $2000+ I want the most for my dollar.I'll let you know how it goes and post my initial reaction and maybe purchase.

I test rode the CFR, not the LE though. It is a lot of bike for the money. I was between sizes, so it just didn't fit. Their sizes are every three cm.

Sandico. If you can find an EPX, it is the same frame.

Although I have no first hand knowledge, I have heard that there are some speed wobble issues with the Scattante frames. Can anyone verify this?

So far Ive gotten up to 44 mph and have felt confident on the bike. I have not experienced any shimmy-ing or wobbling either at 44mph or a long descent at 30mph.

TroDevil, have you rode the 5200 and if so, how does it compare.
