Howdy all-

I haven't ridden my bikes for an embarassingly long time, but have decided to get them cleaned up and get back out on two wheels. I used to race my Peugeot as a USCF Junior back in the late 80's, then switched over to much lower intensity MTB riding for fun on my Marin until about 10 years ago. I've got a good bit of resto to do to get the old mounts road worthy, so I'll be spending a good deal of time reading through these forums, that's for sure...

See ya 'round!

Meh... I was off bikes for 20 years before I started commuting on my '84 Nishiki. Look at it this way: You automatically qualify for the Classic & Vintage forum.. It's where all the cool kids hang out.

Welcome back!

Funny you should mention that particular forum... A google search trying to get some add'l info on my ol' Peugeot actually lead me to this site.:thumb: I will definitely be spending some time over there - expecially once I get off my keester and snap a couple of pix of the hardware to present to the Peugeotphiles. I've seen your s/n name over there, so watch for my updates and info requests over there.

And thanks for the welcome!

Yeah, don't go there without pictures. They will hound you for them in exchange for help and advice. Just go snap pictures, and nobody gets hurt. jim

Welcome back to riding.
Oil the chain, wipe some dirt off and ride.

I suspected as much. Seems very similar to the automotive (VW) forums I usually frequent in that respect. I am hoping to free the Peugeot from the shed long enough to collect some pics, including some of the specific details required for Peugeotphile identification.

Thanks, but it's gonna take a *little* bit more than that for the Peugeot. It'll definitely work for the Marin hardtail, though. I should start back on the M, anyway, as I know that my bikehandling skills have eroded signifiicantly. The P is a lot more, er, responsive than the M and I still haven't learned to like crashing...

That East Hill is really demanding, in particular.

Don't mess with her  .

I did actually snap a few pics this weekend so I'll have the 'before' shots to compare with the finsihed cycles. I only wiped dust or grime off the places required to identify certain components - and a couple of the cobwebs fell off whilst they were being rolled from the shed to a (just slightly) more suitable photo setting.:thumb:

Of course, since the road bike is a Peugeot, I shall now be required to post yet another "Help ID this Peugeot" thread...:p

Thanks for the welcome, all!

Beautiful!

We love members who have not only gone to the trouble of figuring out which bits they need to photograph, but who already know that T-Mar and miamijim are the champs on figuring out those Peugeots :D .
