Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

At Delancey St. and Bowery on Friday, Caroline Samponaro, right, in Statue of Liberty crown, of Transportation Alternatives, held a petition for cyclists to sign. The petition asks for a protected bike lane on Delancey St., the main conduit for bicycle traffic to and from the Williamsburg Bridge.

Yeah, I guess that would be sweet.
Top priority for me in terms of protected bike lanes is still, up and down 1st and 2nd Ave in the 40s, 50s and 60s.

The route from the Manhattan Bridge has been marked off, from the end of the bridge, up the short block of Canal, and Chrystie St all the way to Houston. And if you are coming down 2nd Ave it is continuous from 14th or maybe further north all the way to the bridge. Not bad. When they first opened the Manh Br to bikes I found it annoyingly typical that the bike route that was marked by signs took you onto back streets that were unsuitable for bikes.
Delancy has plenty of room for a lane. Unfortunately Chambers from the West Side Bikeway to the Brooklyn Bridge does not.

Chambers will be a tough fix, since the street is ridiculously narrow to begin with.
They should redirect that path to a wider street.
