Tandem Cycling - Hospitality Homes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I came across this article from a link on CNN.com: http://www.budgettravel.com/bt-dyn/content/article/2006/03/13/AR2006031300839_pf.html
Did anyone else know the Tandem Club of America had this program?

We've been listed as a Hospitality Home since the fall of 1997, albeit with few takers via the program: mostly friends from out of town.
Of course, we're not exactly in a well-travelled corridor or holiday destination, being a good 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta and about an hour from the real cycling hot-spots, e.g., North Georgia Mountains, Chattanooga, and other points north.
Although I track HH numbers in my annual TCA membership reviews, I don't usually report on them. Here's a link to my most recent, annual two-part posting to Hobbes on TCA membership trends:
Part I (http://search.bikelist.org/getmsg.asp?Filename=tandem.10703.0576.eml) (Link has been fixed)
Part II (http://search.bikelist.org/getmsg.asp?Filename=tandem.10703.0577.eml)
As always, not really scientific: just number crunching based on the annual membership list that comes out each March, or there bouts.

Yup, been going on for almost 20 years.
Become a TCA member . . .

Here are some stats on Hospitality Homes (HH) that may be of interest and somewhat telling with regard to TCA membership in general. Overall, membership trends have somewhat paralleled the HH stats as older members fall off the rolls and/or retire and relocate.
In 2002 there were 185 HHs, accounting for about 12.7% of the TCA's members.
In 2003 there were 185 / 13.7%
In 2004 there were 179 / 14.3%
In 2005 there were 154 / 12.8%
In 2006 there were 135 / 12.3%
In 2007 there were 145 / 14.4%
The following show how many HH's there were by state in 2002 vs. 2007.
