Hello wickedwhite--you've got the American River Trail right at your doorstep, so to speak. There are quite a few members in and around Sacramento--check out the Northern California regional forum, too.

Welcome to BikeForums :D .

welcome to cycling!

Keep it fun. Many people try to do too much too soon, and end up quiting because biking is too hard. Take it easy, go on fun short rides, and don't worry about speed yet.

A lot of members here use that trail--you've probably come across a lot of members without knowing it!
