Here she is my new baby! The Historian got me to thinking about doing a tour when he did his ride. I'm wanting to do a short tour to give it a try, but would you believe I didn't have the proper bike. Well, I found this neglected poor thing that looks like what I wanted. I've been wanting a "touring bike" with 26" wheels so I can hit the gravel roads or paths. Just happens this bike has 26" wheels. I hope to add a rack and whatever. If I decide I want to do more touring I can upgrade to a newer bike like a LHT, but for now I got this at a great price. So without further adieu....

Wouldja look at the size of those chainstays!? Holy cow, those things are long.
I keep a relatively close eye on CL and I did not see that pop up. It looks like a touring frame transmorgified into an ATB early eighties style! When I first got back into riding I nearly bought a Puegot ATB that had the same RD and handlebar getup. I was only willing to spend $50 and the owner would not drop below $80. Like your new find it also needed a seat, chain, some serious cleaning, and a rear tire.

Well I took it for a ride today if 1.5 miles counts. I put new tubes in, cleaned and oiled the cables and adjusted the rear derailleur. I will need to replace more parts, but I wanted to see what the minimum was to get it rideable.
It rides nice, but different with friction shifters. Took a few trys to get the seat right. One thing different about this seat/stem is there is about 3 to 4 inches of front/back adjustment that can be made with a quick release and slidding the seat. This is in addition to the normal adjustments done on the seat rails.
Well since it rained today and is suppose to rain the next few days I guess fenders will be the first addition. Off to do a search on what type I should get.

The cranks are Sugino. One thing I was surprised was the gearing. It wasn't quite as low as I thought it was, but "high" gear was faster then I thought.
