Winter Cycling - idiabike challenge

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anybody here do this race?

I haven't done it yet, but I have been eyeing the Susitna for years. Maybe one day!! :D

That looks cool. I've always wanted to do a winter race. Too bad I live in So Cal.

There's nothing that says you can travel up there!
If you haven't spent much time cycling in winter conditions, I'd recommend going with the Susitna before trying the Iditabike (http://www.alaskaultrasport.com/) The Iditabike is either 350 or 1100 miles long. The Susitna is only 100 miles.

100 miles sounds a lot better to start with. I haven't rode in the snow or ice, so I'm sure I would suck. I've ridden in lots of rain, but that’s two extremely different environments.
