I didn't ride today (rain :(), but I've got a little over 1500 miles for the year. Considering I started riding after 10+ years off a bike at the beginning of July, I'm feeling pretty good about that.

I had a brief ride this evening -- 17 km/10 miles. My total for the year so far is 1642 km, but my goal is 2000 km. I tried a new trail today so my ride took a little more time than usual because I'm not familiar with the neighbourhood. It was a great ride!
I can't wait for this weekend. I have a nice long 50 km ride planned for Sunday and it'll be my longest ride ever. Saturday I'm taking a briefer 35 km ride. Hopefully I can go for a ride tomorrow but I have a lot of stuff to do so I may have to skip it.

Awesome riding Mr. Beanz. I was able to get out for a 42 mile ride up the San Gabriel River trail from my house today. It was breezy (as always), but nowhere near as breezy as the Santa Ana Rivertrail you took. You are truly "Da Man." By the way, I'm at 4,318 miles for the year as of today due to a multitude of century rides I've done. Wish I could catch 10 Wheel's 9,000 miles though. He reminds me of my shortcomings when I see his post. Still at the rate he's going, he's still opening up the gap between him and I- and at a rapid pace.

Great mileage dude! In the morning the wind near Gypsum wasn't that bad. Small flags were flying but the big one (Near Kraemer) was still. When I got back to my truck at 70 miles, I figured I'd throw in 10 more so I headed to Imperial again. Holy smokes, the big flag was flying high! Kind of sorry I added the 10 extra but then again, figured it would add some hair on my chest. I've got 4 now!:D
Trainer ride today. 2640 miles since my first ride on April 27

I have been fiending to ride, haven't ridden since sunday. I work 3 twelve hour shifts at work so usually have 4 days off. This week had extra day of work, the only day off so far was horrible weather, so tomorrow i'm gonna reallly get 4 days of riding out of my system.

5 miles so far today and I'll do another 5 home in 15 minutes or so. I'm past the 3K miles mark for the year. A year ago, 3K miles would have sounded impossible. Now, I'll be looking to set a REAL goal for next year.

After 26 yesterday, no miles at all for me today. I take TTh off due to need for recovery (age=60 ) and my work schedule. I am at 1350 miles since starting in late June, and I feel pretty darn good about it. My longest ride ever is 30 miles but there have been many rides in the 20 to 26 range. I'm due for a fairly long ride soon when the conditions work out right for it, especially the wind.

Did 10 easy miles just before sunset today. I had my knee scoped 4 weeks ago and have only ridden a little over 120 miles in October. It has been cool and wet here. Last week my wife and I were in California. We had 2 great days of riding in the Sonoma area up by Healdsburg and another short day of riding in San Fransisco. I have riden about 2,000 miles since the snow melted last spring. I will be 60 in one week.

Did my normal 22 mile weekday ride this morning (at 530 am) :) I try to do it 3 days a week and cover 100 miles on the weekend for 150 miles or so a week and 600 miles a month.
I will go over 6,000 for the year tomorrow (if I can wake up at 5). My goal for the year is 7,000 which I should be able to make.

Oh, how many miles for the year- no clue- the battery on my $10 speedometer gave out, and that lost my mileage. I started doing www.bikejournal.com (http://www.bikejournal.com) about a month ago, so I should have a pretty complete record next year.

I rode my 'bent out on the roads for the 1st time today to pick up some new kid's winter coats from the LL Bean store. It was mildly frightening at several moments since my low confidence on the bike impeded proper vehicular cycling. My bike skills need some real work, and I will spend the next few riding sessions practicing very low speed handling and tracking a straight line at high speeds. The seat position is now very good but I still need to tweak the handlebars. The rear der. needs a bit of adjustment and I still need to replace the front der. with one that properly functions with a twist grip shifter.
It was 43F during the ride. On my top half I had a long sleeve wicking shirt, pullover fleece, helmet, and half-finger cycling gloves. Perfect. My lower half had the Shimano cycling sandals and a pair of wool socks. A sock liner would have been nice but not a big deal. My poor legs on the other hand...I had on a pair of light windbreakers and my legs froze. I nearly looked around the LL Bean store for some long underwear but was too cheap to do so since it's an expensive place to shop, and tonight learned that their mid-weight stuff is on sale for $12.95 a pair. Oh well....
Plan for tomorrow: warmer legs, and slooooow biking. Miles for this year: not much, I have owned a bike for about 7 weeks total.

No, no, that's sandals with itchy thick (and cheap) wool socks, none of that $$$ Merino wool crap. I actually bought the sandals for year-round use. After a sock liner, I'll add a Gore-Tex oversock to the thick wool. If that's not enough, I'll get neoprene booties. If that's not enough I'll just HTFU or at least give in and blow $250 on a fairing like this guy:

Sadly, I haven't ridden today. Delightful rain ice mix that just seems to cut through my rain gear. My total for the year is 1,023. I lost over a month of cycle time while waiting for a new specialized chainset to be shipped from the states.

I rode today (and yesterday when the thread started) by the time I get home tonight I'll have done 2009 miles for the year and therefore be 1 mile over my 2008 goal of 2008 miles.
Looks like it's time for a new goal, I wonder if I can get to 2500 by the end of December.
Two miles in downtown Trappe, PA, after my Frogs fitting was cut short because the fitter wanted to consult with Speedplay before drilling new holes for the cleats for my right shoe. Speedplay's tech support is in California, and they weren't open at the time of my fitting. I rode from the shop down Main Street to Augustus Church, the oldest Lutheran church in the US, and took photos.
I'm a little over 2K miles for the year, and I should hit 2500 by year's end. I wanted 3K, but that's not likely at this point. Between the mini-stroke in January, the fractured rib in June, and the on-again, off again depression I lost more than two months of riding.

Sandals rock! I wear my highfalutin merino wool with either my road shoes or my keen sandals, regular wools gives me a rash ick. If it gets too cold for just a pair of sock or two I'll use a plastic bag between socks to keep all toasty. I'll even use newspaper under my shirt/vest to help keep warm. Haven't really had to do that much since I moved down from connecticut but when it goes from 70 one day to 30 with high winds the next it sure feels chilly.
I rode in today as yesterday was was layoff day so I didn't want anyone hassling my bike and riding on all hallows eve was never a good idea where I come. Only had about 4 days off this year so not alot of long weekday rides. So far 6711 miles for the year, 497 hours, my goal was 7250 but I'm hoping to get to 8000.

I wear Lycra, not spandex, much of the time, including in front of a mirror. I'm overweight, but it's clear I have muscles that the woman in the photo doesn't appear to possess. Still, you're right, I shouldn't assume an obese person getting pulled around on a trailer is in denial.

I was thinking the same thing about some of the comments posted here on the board. Just doesn't seem like motivational material that would inspire an Athena to hop on a bike!:(

If an obese person is deterred by the comments of others, then they aren't ready for weight loss. You either ignore the remarks or work past it. I've applied that philosophy to both weight loss, and more recently cycling, in my life.

Rode 9 miles Thursday, stopped for visit with oldest son and my grandson on return trip, all on my vintage Continental.
Waiting for new tires for '73 Cool Lemon Super Sport rebuild. Maybe another ride today, later this afternoon, on the SS:thumb:, if not the Conti will get a chance to run.
I split riding time across 4 bikes, only two fitted with odometers. Those two tallied equal 989 miles for measured results. And a guess, the third bike has seen about 150 + miles of travel, as it was not finished until late July, a tourist Continental. The fourth, a light weight, only seen action a few times, and would be surprised if I even had it out for more than 6 long rides on my daily route.

I rode today, 12 miles this morning and plan to do 20 miles this afternoon. I resumed biking for the first time in 25 years, starting May. I think I've ridden 1800 miles so far this year, I plan to ride 100 miles a week for another month. Living Chicago, I will cut back on riding during winter. I hope to ride 200 miles a month during Dec, Jan, & Feb.
