So I rode Iowa Hill (out of Colfax, Ca) on Saturday for the first time (wow, what a climb!!!) and since I don't hang out in 'roadie' circles I was wondering what kind of average speeds others make this climb at so I can evaluate my own performance and have something to shoot for. Make my head spin.
For reference, for the 1.8 mile climb I averaged around 4.0 miles an hour for the first mile than sat around 2.6 to 2.8 the last 8/10ths for an average of 3.3mph
For those unfamiliar, Iowa Hill is a ~1200 verticle foot climb in 1.8 miles.

There's a hill called "Iowa Hill" in California? Cool!

Cheers from Ames, Iowa!
