Road Cycling - I barely escaped Eddie Merkxx (sp?)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was in Encinitas, California last week, and stopped by the Nytro road bike store on highway 101. What a store! They sell nothing but high end road bikes (no mountain bikes), and it sure is a beautiful store. The store inventory is immense, and the bikes are so valuable, they actually have cables securing the bikes in the store. I talked with the owner, and he said their web site is 250 pages, and they sell more bikes off the web than in the store. I spent over an hour there, drooling. Check it out if you get a chance. They had an Eddie Merckx (spelling) road bike there, and the more I looked at it, the more my VISA card was quivering in my wallet. It was only $7,600! ;-) I finally wrenched myself away and walked out the door. If I had bought the bike, I would no longer be married.

I got a new bike recently. I told my wife there was a new women in my life. (and she lets me jump on her any time I want!)

Yes it is a great shop and knowledgable people work there. Many pro cyclists will go there when they are in Southern Cal. I too like to go in and lust over the Colnagos even tough I love my LeMond. Their prices are a little steep, but that's what you get in a high end roadbike shop. Heading South on the 101 check out B&L Bike shop. I held a Serrota Otrott frame the last time I was in. The Carbon was tinted blue with brushed Ti and the frame was about $4600.00. I kindly gave it back.
