I am new to the forum, but when people on this forum talk about great bikes why are these names left out.

Seven Serotta Calfee ....

Are they not allowed to play in the raindear games

It's because we owners of Seven, Serotta, and Calfee bikes are snobs and do not want the teeming masses riding the same bikes that we "elite" cyclists ride. Therefore, we do not proselytize the superiority of our riding preferences.

Oh come on....then why not mention them and support your producer, you want them to make money and increase technology don't you??

I needed a custom fit because of my size, but when I went hunting for information it was hard to get comparisons of these bikes. I had to just take the leap of faith and hope that I liked the bike when I got it.

I had a Serotta, did not like it at all. It was not the bike it was the fit. The bike tech just missed.

Well us "Elite" will have to stick together. Can we start our own forum, sub forum under Road Cyclists called " If you Can, then do" I am just kidding BTW

They are not left out and yes you can still play. What it comes down to is most people would love a custom bike but for most part the price is beyond reach.

Serotta has a discussion forum at their website.

Seven and Calfee have their forums here: http://www.bikefanclub.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?Cat= along with quite a few other bikes.

You think you feel left out? Talk to some of us Aegis riders. :)

Admittedly, I believe there are a half-dozen or so of us on BikeForums...

Strangely, though it's not an expensive brand, there aren't a ton of Orbea owners on these boards either, at least not that I've run across. We're small in numbers but incredibly dedicated to the cause. We just couldn't afford a Seven.

Really? I seem to recall a flurry of discussion on Orbeas back a few months ago. As for obscurity, I don't think it has anything to do with price. It's just popularity. I'm guessing that your average person (and newer cyclists) when they think of bike brands only come up thinking Trek, Schwinn, Giant, Specialized, maybe Cannondale and possibly Litespeed. Those are just more commonly seen on the road.

I love that new Orbea Orca!!! If they have it my size when I start looking in a couple of years that may be THE ONE.

I dunno how many of us there are, but I think we were just very vocal there for a while. But, I'm sure that there are more Orbeas being purchased weekly than Seven, et al.

I think we see fewer of the marquee bikes for the obvious and already stated reason: money. Same reason you don't see many Bentleys driving around.

RjKlein,

When one reaches the point of owning a Serotta, or even a Calfee, or Seven ( :D )
they don't need to crow about it, its kind of like the nuovorich thing eh?
There are some of us here that ride Serotta, I know of at least 3 of us,
one member has multiple Serottas Kirks Tommasinis etc. he just doesn't
feel the need to repeatedly remind folks of what he rides.

Now, if we are going to talk about great rides, quality of build, custom frames in
a thread thats a different kettle of fish.
My Serotta is Steel so if I can I avoid the raindear games.

Point taken,

I was forced into a custom bike because of my size. Trust me I tried to squeeze into a 62cm frame, but it was going to leave me no room for adjustment. And I did not want to put $$ into something that was going to just work. But it was difficult for me to gather information. I had a Serotta and trusted the fit tech, but the geometry ended up being way off. So I rode the bike for about four years, and just pulled the trigger on a Seven. The seven fit is excellent.
