IM SO SUPER HAPPY!!:D
Here's my story...

As you probaby remember my thread i started a week or so ago, about people at bike shops being rude. Well all of the bike shops in my town (newmarket) are rude to me, exept for one, which is kinda ok..but still kinda rude. So after losing hope in my own town, i decided to bike on over to the town nexxt to me (Aurora) and i saw this shop called Rec-Cycle. I walked in, and to my surprise, my absolute favorite bike brand (DiamondBack, but im sure you all knew that :p) bikes were everywhere!!! DiamondBack's from the ceiling, lined up against the wall, everything from DiamondBack Outlook to DBR. JUST PURE DIAMONDBACK! And if you buy parts there, they will install them for you FREE if you own a DiamonBack! And the service there rocks!! As soon as i walked in, they greeted me, asked my if i needed anything, and i said "Yeah, my paycheque comes in this week, and i need to buy some disk brakes" Immideatly he brought out 3 or so catalouges, and we went over them together. I finally found the brakes i wanted(Shimano Deore), for a really great price (140$ for the pair). So right away he got on the phone, and ordered them. He asked me what kind of bike i had, so i brought in my 2003 DiamondBack sorrento (that i had just spent 300$ on new cassette, hubs, and rims that week) and he complemented my bike and then after talking for a while i left. That was the first time I ever left an LBS with a really really good feeling in me. That shop will be getting my buisness everytime i buy anything for my bike, kudos to Rec-Cycle in Aurora!

that's cool. no one around here carries diamondback. Kinda sucks but all the guys at the local shops are real cool. glad you found one that works for you. I wish I got free installation on my db... oh well.

Cool!

The only store around here that carries Diamondback is Dick's Sporting Goods. Diamondback has some good bikes, but Dick's assembles them horribly. :(

I'm glad you finally located a good LBS and one that specialises in your brand of ride to boot. I've been rather lucky in that all the LBSes I've visited near me seem to be pretty friendly. I feel it is important to develop a relationship with the shop if you expect them to develop a relationship with you. It's just human nature. If you treat the employees generically they will tend to treat you just the same. I have two shops that I go to more than the others and they know me pretty well. I recently found out that the head mechanic of my FBS is moving across the sound to one of my favourite riding spots and will be working for an LBS over there so now I have an "in" to a third shop at least through the mechanic. I will reserve judgement about the shop as a whole until I've visited it though. Also, one of the co-owners of my FBS is opening up his own shop in another nearby town so now I have another known quantity to go to. Now all these shops are spaced out nicely in my general riding area so I'm feeling pretty happy about that.
