I am considering the new Trek 5900 Superlight. Or even perhaps the 5.9 Madone. IF, big if here, IF I can get a decent deal on one. I have been educated over the past few LBS discussions that Trek dealers do not discount below a certain Trek-recommended selling price--which appears to be about 15-20% less than MSRP.
Has anyone purchased a Trek at the end of the season and gotten a decent discount? Is there any other way to get a good price--like through a team?
My sticking point is that I can buy a DA9spd Scattante thru Supergo for $2100. Trek's 5500 DA10spd (ok, that's a price difference btw 9spd and 10spd) is approx $3500 in the store. The 5900 is $4300. If I can get a price somewhere between Scattante and the "beginning of season" Trek price, I'd jump on it.
What has anyone else experienced?
